This is what was happening at Victoria Pier on the 8th May in years gone by...
| 1934 | The 3rd (current) pavilion was
officially opened by Council Chairman W. G. Knowlson. This
time in a very moderne Art Deco style, and totally fireproof, being made
of iron and concrete at a cost of £18,500. The building was designed by
Professor Adshead, in conjunction with Mr W. G. Dunning, the Council's
Surveyor and the Council Entertainments Manager, Louis Kilkenny. The pavilion opened to the public on May 19th. A detailed description and photos of the pavilion was published June 1934. Read it here. |
