4th January
This is what was happening at Victoria Pier on the 4th January in years gone by...
| 1942 | A number of mines were spotted in the Bay, having drifted from the approach channels to Liverpool where they had been laid by German submarines. 2 mines were spotted by the pier, and for two days the police closed the pier during darkness and kept continuous watch during the day. The Royal Navy made the mines safe. |
